Five arrested on charge of murder of shop owner

The police on Sunday have arrested five persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of Venkatesh, a mobile currency recharge shop owner in the city.

A group of armed youth had brutally murdered Venkatesh at Hosamane locality in the city on Tuesday.

M. Nanjundaswamy, Inspector General of Police of Eastern Range, told presspersons here on Monday that, Lokesh, Deepak, Muniswamy, Naveen and Nithin were arrested by Shivamogga police at Visakhapatnam railway station in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday for their alleged involvement in the crime.

He said that the victim, Venkatesh, was one of the accused in the case related to the murder of Tulasiram, Lokesh’s brother, that took place in 2010. Lokesh and his friends may have murdered Lokesh to avenge the death of his brother, he added.

Superintendent of Police Ravi Channannanavar was present in the press conference.
