The City Municipal Council (CMC) here has launched a special ‘khata adalat’.

Aimed at disposing the applications regarding changes in khatas and other issues pending with the CMC for more than five years, the drive is said to be a first-of-its-kind, adopted by any Urban Local Body (ULB) in the State.

Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra inaugurated the adalat at CMC office on Friday.

Mr. Trilokchandra said this should serve a model to other local bodies in the district as well as other parts of the State.

He suggested the CMC to adopt automatic building plan approval system and maintain the records room properly.

According to CMC president B.M. Mubarak, as many as 400 applications in connection with change of khata and other disputes about buildings, sites and other properties are pending with the body. All the applications except those involving legal hurdles will be disposed during the two day adalat, he said. It will be extended on Sunday also if necessary, he added.

Vice-President Sakamma and CMC Commissioner K.N. Lakshminarayan participated.
