May 22, 2018 05:22 pm | Updated 05:22 pm IST - Belagavi

A mishap was averted in Belagavi when fire from a petrol dispenser in a petrol pump was put out in time on Monday.

Fire, caused probably by a short-circuit, was noticed at the petrol dispenser box in Ashok Petrol bunk on Telegraph Road. Bunk staff threw water and sand on the box immediately. They also called the fire station. They used water from a nearby well and a water tanker parked nearby. By the time the fire tenders arrived, the fire was under control. Fire and emergency services personnel put out the fire completely. No casualties were reported. City police are estimating the loss.
