Fire breaks out at net browsing centre

A fire broke out at an Internet browsing centre situated in Asian Plaza complex at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Chowk in Kalaburagi city on Saturday morning. No casualty has been reported.

According to sources, a woman and her two children staying on the first floor at the complex fell ill due to smoke and were hospitalised.

The internet browsing centre was reduced to ashes in the blaze that broke out around 8 a.m. According to Fire services officials, the blaze, suspected to have been caused by a short-circuit, engulfed the browsing centre and HDFC bank situated on the ground floor. All the computers at the browsing centre were gutted as also electric wires in another six shops.

The mishap came to light when people noticed thick smoke from the complex. Two fire tenders were immediately pressed into service and it took more than two hours for fire fighters to completely extinguish the fire. A case has been registered at Station Bazaar police station.
