As the press gathered in front of Cubbon Park Police Station, groups of supporters of Mohammed Nalapad Haris objected to their reporting of the chaotic scene. The objections led to a scuffle, and in the process, a camera of a television channel was damaged.

The protesters also allegedly tried to prevent the television journalists from recording the events. The presspersons then aired their complaints to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Chandragupta, who then directed that an FIR be filed in the Cubbon Park Police Station. While no one has been named in the FIR, the police had requested for press footage to identify the assaulters.
