The Lokayukta police have registered an FIR against Kolar MLA Varthur Prakash following a complaint lodged by a Bengaluru-based activist, Girish Gowda. Mr. Prakash now faces the threat of arrest. The Additional Director-General of Police (Lokayukta) had directed the Lokayukta police in Kolar to register a case against Mr. Prakash for alleged criminal intimidation of an official, after taking Mr. Gowda’s complaint.

Accordingly, Mr. Gowda visited the Lokayukta office in Kolar on Tuesday and filed a complaint with Lokayukta Superintendent of Police K.M. Chinnaswamy.

This comes days after the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy released an audio recording of a purported telephonic conversation between Mr. Prakash and the then Mulbagal tahsildar. — Staff Correspondent
