Film, theatre festivals to mark Shivamogga Dasara

Movie buffs in the city can enjoy popular and critically-acclaimed Kannada films during Dasara Chalanachitrotsava, a film fest organised to mark Shivamogga Dasara 2017. The fest will be held from September 22 to 29. Actor Sundar Raj will inaugurate the film festival at Mallikarjuna cinema on September 22. Actress Radhika Chethan will be present.

The following films will be screened: Lift Man (Sept. 22, Mallikarjuna cinema); Om (Sept. 23, Lakshmi cinema hall); Kasturi Nivasa (Sept. 24, Manjunatha); Ondu Motteya Kathe (Sept. 25, Modern cinema); Allama (Sept. 26, HPC cinema) and Mana Manthana (Sept. 27, Veerabhadreshwara cinema). Screenings will commence at 10.30 a.m. The entry is free for all.

Artists from amateur theatre troupes and drama companies will perform in Ranga Dasara – a theatre fest from September 22 to 29 at B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan. M. Ganesh, director of Rangayana, Shivamogga, will inaugurate the fest on September 22.The following plays will be staged: Muddannana promotion prasanga by Kalarohana theatre troupe (Sept.22); Veera Uttarakumara by Hongirana theatre troupe (Sept. 26); Kunta Kona Mookha Jaana by Basaveshwara Nataka Sangha(Sept. 27); Police Chowki by Sahyadri Kala Tanda (Sept. 28); and Gunamukha by Nam Team (Sept. 29). Shows will commence at 6 p.m.

As part of the theatre fest, a mono-acting competition will be held on September 22 at 10 a.m. while Rangageethe rendering competition will be held on September 27 at 10 a.m. The competitions will be held in separate categories for students and for others.
