A seven-year-old female leopard was found trapped in a cage kept by the Forest Department three months back near Nagathihalli in Tiptur taluk in the district on Wednesday morning which created panic among the people.

Assistant Conservator of Forests, Nagendra B.S. Rao told The Hindu , “the leopard was seen frequently by the villagers and it entered the villages and kill sheep, goats, cattle and dogs”.

He said the leopard had not attacked any humans.

The people in the nearby villages of Karikallugudda in Tiptur taluk were frightened by the presence of the leopard and had complained to the Forest Department.
