January 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - BELAGAVI:

The Union Ministry of Shipping has proposed a dry port here and has begun a feasibility study. A release from the Press Information Bureau said there were proposals for similar facilities at Wardha and Jalna in Maharashtra too.

If the Union government finds it feasible to set up the dry port here, it would facilitate an inland intermodal terminal directly connected by road or rail to a seaport and would operate as a centre for the transshipment of sea cargo to inland destinations, the release said.
