The fast by gazetted probationers of the 2011 Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) batch at Freedom Park here entered the fourth day on Tuesday. Eight persons have been taken ill and have been admitted to the K.C. General Hospital.

They have been staging a dharna demanding the acceptance of the final list of 362 candidates selected by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).

The State government had ordered a CID inquiry into alleged irregularities in the selection of candidates for gazetted probationer Group A and B posts by the KPSC after several candidates complained of corruption during the selection process.

Intervention sought

The 2011 batch is seeking Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s intervention, saying innocent candidates should not be punished for the fault of a “few wrong-doers”.

“Take action against the officials and members involved. Let the law take its course. If charges are proven against any candidate, the government is well within its powers to decide their fate,” the protesters said, threatening to continue their agitation if Mr. Siddarmaiah did not take a call.

‘Waiting for five years’

The protesters said they had been waiting for over five years for the matter to be decided, putting on hold any other plans.
