A number of farmers led by Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS) took to the streets of Kolar on Tuesday in support of many demands, including implementation of the M.S. Swaminathan report recommendation.

They urged the government to fix the minimum support price for farm produce based on the agriculture scientist M.S. Swaminathan’s report. A pro-farmer insurance policy should be introduced, they demanded.

The farmers took out a procession from Inspection Bungalow to the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises where they held a sit-in protest. Waving flags and chanting slogans in support of their demands, they also urged the district administration to take up drought relief measures effectively.

KPRS State president G.C. Bayya Reddy, district leaders P.R. Suryanarayan and T.M. Venkatesh participated.
