Farmers dump milk on road in Tumkur

April 25, 2014 02:44 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 01:19 pm IST - Tumkur:

Farmers poured milk on the road on Monday night to express their displeasure with the staff of the dairy at Kattegollahalli in Tumkur district. The dairy unit comes under Tumkur Co-operative Milk Producers’ Societies Union Limited (TUMUL). Farmers of eight villages, including Menasandra, Appajappanapalya, Bidarakatte, Gidadapalya and Kattegollahalli, used to deliver milk to the dairy every day. But the staff refused to take the milk stating that it does not contain enough fat. On Monday, they closed the unit, which angered the farmers who poured more than 2,000 litres of milk on the road demanding action against the staff for turning them away.
