Farmers complain about crop loss compensation

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who arrived here on Saturday afternoon, had to face angry farmers who complained that they were not paid compensation for the kharif crop loss. Though Minister of State for Medical Education and Raichur in-charge Sharanprakash Patil, Minister for State for Agriculture Krishna Byre Gowda and Deputy Commissioner S. Sasikanth Senthil tried to convince the farmers by saying that input subsidies were paid to farmers through real-time gross settlement system, the farmers did not calm down. They complained that only 10 per cent of the farmers whose crops were lost were paid meagre amount as compensation.
