Farmer commits suicide

A farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his farm at Guttinakere, a village in Arsikere taluk, on Saturday. The police gave the name of the farmer as Kantharaju (35).

He is survived by wife and a daughter. Mr. Kantharaju had recently sunk four borewells in his farm by taking a loan of up to Rs. 4 lakh.

It was said that recently, he had received a notice from the bank for repayment of loan.

MLA visits family

K.M. Shivalinge Gowda, Arsikere MLA, visited the family members of the farmer.

Tahsildar H.N. Nataraj and others visited the village and collected details of the deceased farmer. Gandasi police have registered a case.
