A section of Congress workers has demanded that Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh be dropped from the Cabinet and expelled from the party, blaming him for the defeat of party candidate from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency Ramya.

The upset party workers vented their ire against the Minister by putting up a big board near the Inspection Bungalow Circle on the Bangalore–Mysore highway in Maddur on Sunday. They described Mr. Ambareesh as “Mir Sadiq” and “enemy of women”. “Mr. Ambareesh is directly and indirectly responsible for the defeat of... [Ms.] Ramya. He [Mr. Ambareesh] was shattered because of the fast pace of reputation gained by [Ms.] Ramya,” the it was written on the board.

Ravikumar, a Congress leader in Maddur, told presspersons, “Everything written on the board is true... Mr. Ambareesh and his followers worked against the party. ”

A group of Mr. Ambareesh’s fans removed the board later in the day.
