Son of former Mysore MP A.H. Vishwanath is among five people who have been booked by the police for allegedly ransacking a restaurant in Hunsur town on Monday.

Following a complaint from restaurant owner Sandesh, the Hunsur Town police have registered cases against Purvaj Vishwanath and his friends Sanjay, Shivakumar, Mukesh and Nataraj. No arrests have been made, according to the police. The police said Purvaj and his friends went to the restaurant around 10.30 p.m. and asked for food and liquor. When the staff told them they do not serve liquor, and food was not available as the restaurant was closed for the day, the accused started arguing with them and allegedly created a rumpus.

They allegedly damaged some furniture and flowerpots, and torched a bamboo gazebo.

Mr. Vishwanath told reporters here on Tuesday that he would not get in the way of investigation.
