Excise violations: 153 cases filed, 129 arrested in Bidar

Excise Department officials have registered 153 cases and arrested 129 since the Model Code of Conduct was enforced on March 27.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Anirudh Sravan P. said various check-points, stations and flying squads were functioning round-the-clock to check illegal movement of liquor.

In raids on grocery shops, dhabas in Khanavali and other places, and regular checks on licensed liquor outlets, the teams found violations and seized 995.5 litres of illicit liquor, 168.15 litres of beer, 84,000 litres of toddy and 650 gm of cannabis, 20 two-wheelers, 3 four-wheelers and 2 refrigerators.
