The Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysore, has organised a seminar on ‘Demystifying intellectual property rights (IPR) and IP management: making IPR work for Indian industry, institutions and MSMEs’ here on Friday and Saturday.
The former CFTRI Director V. Prakash will inaugurate the seminar at 9.30 a.m. on Friday.
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has supported the seminar.
In a press release, CII said that the seminar aimed to create awareness and improve factual understanding on various IPRs; provide basic understanding on procedure and practices of IPR followed by the Indian IP offices; develop an understanding of the basic concepts of IP management and share best practices through case studies; discuss mechanisms for better IP protection and enforcement in the country and develop a broad understanding on the need to integrate IP with innovation strategies and business planning for SMEs.
A forum
The seminar will provide a forum for government officials, industry leaders, SMEs, associations, academics, strategic planning professionals, technologists from R and D, business executives and IP experts to discuss the current need and importance of IP filings and also to publicise new initiatives to make a difference to their organisations through innovation, the release stated.
Arvind Vishwanathan, partner, Xellect Solutions LLP; M.N. Bheemesh, senior advisor-IPR, ALMT Legal; Mannan Bakthavathsalu, group manager, IP Analysis Group, Philips Intellectual Property and Standards; S. Pund, IP manager, Mahindra and Mahindra, and Ganesh Subramanian, business development executive, IP dome, have been invited to speak at the seminar, according to the release.
