August 03, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - YADGIR:

Prakash Hegde, Regional Manager of Pragati Krishna Grameena Bank, has said that every child should have a bank account to get facilities extended by the government.

He was talking after inaugurating a jatha to create awareness among people here on Tuesday.

Mr. Hegde said that the governments have extended facilities such as student scholarship to encourage them to get education and reduce the financial burden on parents from the poorer section.

But, most of the students are deprived of such financial aid because they do not have a bank account, he added.

Therefore, parents should come forward immediately to open bank account in their children’s name, Mr. Hegde said.

Students from Rachoti Veeranna Vidya Samaste participated in the jatha, which passed through Subhash Chowk to the Railway Station area.

Prahlad Desai and Lakshman Ammanur, bank officials, participated.
