The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has condemned the remark by K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, about minority community during a discussion in the sessions.

Members of SDPI, who held a protest and burnt an effigy of Mr. Eshwarappa at Basaveshwar Circle in Shahapur town in Yadgir district recently, said that the remarks he made against Muslims were highly derogatory in nature. Therefore, he should tender apologies to the community, they added.

The organisation would always fight against derogatory statements against minorities by BJP leaders, they said.

S.I. Hussain, district president of SDPI, Shivaputra Jawali, Mahebood Gogi, Abdul Salam and others were present.
