The former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has alleged that Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa is indulging in selfish politics.
“Mr. Eshwarappa wants me to quit the Bharatiya Janata Party to realise his goals. I don’t want to work with such a person. Our paths are different now,” he told presspersons here on Tuesday.
He blamed Mr. Eshwarappa for the present crisis in the BJP State unit. “Mr. Eshwarappa has created a wrong impression about me with the BJP central leaders,” he said.
Replying to a query, he said: “I don’t want to become Chief Minister when I am with the BJP. I am not an aspirant for the post of BJP State unit president.” On the possibility of forming a new political party, Mr. Yeddyurappa said he would take a decision on this by December-end. “I will not compel any leader to come with me,” he said.
The programme to inaugurate the renovated Mahatma Gandhi Park in the city on October 2 was postponed and Mr. Yeddyurappa was upset. He said: “The funds for the renovation work was released during my tenure as Chief Minister. Unfortunately, Mr. Eshwarappa is averse to my presence at the inaugural ceremony and asked the officials to postpone the programme. During his tenure as Chief Minister, D.V. Sadananda Gowda also behaved in a similar fashion.”
He alleged that Mr. Eshwarappa, who is also in-charge Minister of Shimoga, had failed to accelerate the pace of development works. Many works have come to a standstill in the district due to shortage of raw materials like crushed stone, he claimed.
On the resignation of JD(S) legislators and an MP from Mandya, he said: “If the problem can be resolved by submitting resignations, then we are also ready for it. But this is not the time to indulge in such stunts. The Cauvery issue should not be politicised.”
