A two-and-half acres of government land covering raja kaluve (storm water drain) which had been encroached by a gated community was recovered by officials from the Bangalore Deputy Commissioner’s (Urban) office on Monday.
A team led by Deputy Commissioner G.C. Prakash went to Epsilon Villas in Yamalur on old airport road and recovered the land, worth Rs. 25 crore.
According to the officials, the community had encroached the land to build a private road to connect the villas to the main road and a compound was built around the land.
With the help of 10 earthmovers officials managed to demolish the structures. “We have issued a notice to the company seeking explanation,” Mr. Prakash told the Hindu .
