Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in his Budget speech, announced that government schools will be restructured as “Shikshana Samarasya Vidya Kendras”.
To encourage enrolment and attendance of girls in class 1 in government schools, an incentive of Rs. 2 will be given to girls for each day’s attendance, the proposal said.
For effective implementation of the midday meal programme, steam boilers will be provided to schools having student strength of 500 or more, at a cost of Rs. 10 crore. Rs. 3 crore has been set aside for the Bharat Scouts and Guides.
