The elephant herd entered Tumkur district on Wednesday night from Savandurga forest in Magadi taluk in Ramanagaram district.

Forest Department personnel, with the help of people of Haralur village, managed to drive away eight elephants from an eucalyptus grove in the village on Thursday.

The elephant herd entered Tumkur district on Wednesday night from Savandurga forest in Magadi taluk in Ramanagaram district.

They were found in Haralur village on Thursday morning and the villagers tried to drive the elephants away by starting a fire near their fields.

Then, the Forest Department personnel joined them in driving away the elephants to Gondihalla in Nelamangala taluk in Bangalore Rural district.

Meanwhile, the four elephants that had stationed themselves near Mallasandra tank on Wednesday, have now moved to M.H. Patna in Gubbi taluk.

These elephants entered the district on Tuesday.
