Election Commission seeks report on Sindhuri’s transfer

The Election Commission has sought a report from the State government on the issue of transfer of Hassan Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri Dasari, whose transfer was cleared by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) recently.

The issue has been in the news for sometime now after the government transferred Ms. Dasari along with three other deputy commissioners when the Election Commission was in the process of revising the summary electoral rolls. The commission had objected to the transfer then.

“We did not have information (about her case) and we were not a party in the case too. We have asked for a report from the State government in this regard,” Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar told presspersons here on Thursday. When asked if the commission was unhappy about her transfer, he said: “It is not a matter of being happy or unhappy. It is not about the individual, but of the system. There should not be any uncertainty in the process anywhere.”
