Elderly couple robbed of cash, ornaments at home

Two robbers threatened an elderly ex-serviceman and his wife in their house in Ichalampady near Uppinangady and made away with ₹30,000 and a 64-gram gold chain on Wednesday night.

According to Uppinangady police, the two robbers entered the house of Narayan Pillay (67) around 8 p.m. when he was watching television along with his wife by keeping the front door open. While one thief held an object similar to a toy gun, the other robber held a knife. They two threatened the elderly couple to get hold of the cash and gold chain.

The police said the robbers were speaking in Malayalam.
