Elaborate arrangements will be in place for the Panchalinga Darshana to be held on December 2 at Talakad in T. Narsipur taluk of the district. The darshan timings will be from 10 a.m. to midnight.

Religious and cultural programmes will commence from November 28. Brahmothsava will be held on December 3 and Shayanothsava on December 4. The programmes will come to a close on December 7.

The details were announced at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha at Talakad in T. Narsipur on Saturday.

Panchalinga Darshana is held during specific alignments of stars and has been held in 1911, 1924, 1938, 1952, 1959, 1965, 1979, 1986, 1993, 2006 and in 2009. Ms. Shikha reviewed the progress of works.

The engineering division has arranged temporary water supply at 10 places for the benefit of devotees who are expected to gather in lakhs. There will be 11 temporary toilets and five permanent toilets apart from parking arrangements.

Construction of bathing ghats, repair of the existing facilities was emphasised and the authorities were directed to operate mini buses transporting the devotees to different temples.

The DC suggested that a permanent rest house for the benefit of devotees be constructed at Mudukthore and directed that all link roads leading to the temple town be connected with the district.
