EC team to arrive Bangalore on April 8

Chief Election Commissioner of India V S Sampath and other members of the Commission will visit the State capital on April 8 and 9 to review the State’s preparedness to hold elections to the State legislative assembly on May 5.

On April 8, the commission members would hold interactions with the representatives of political parties and hear their grievances. The political parties could use the opportunity to give their complaints to the commission, Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha told presspersons here on Thursday.

On April 9, Mr Sampath and other members would interact with Deputy Commissioners, who are returning officers, and top police officials of the State.

Workshop

The CEO and Karnataka Media Academy will hold a workshop on April 3 on the “role of media in election reporting.”

Issues related to paid news, coverage of elections and enforcement of model code of conduct would be discussed during the seminar. Senior journalists would speak on various relevant topics, Mr Jha said. (EOM)
