The Election Commission of India has asked Deputy Commissioner of Bagalkot to inquire into allegations against the management of Basaveshwara Vidya Vardak Sangha, which has allegedly been directing students from other States in the colleges run by it to include their names in the electoral roll.

Basaveshwara Vidya Vardak Sangha’s colleges are managed by BJP MLA Veeranna Charantimath. The college management is said to have told students that hostel admission would be provided next year only to those students who cast their votes in the Assembly elections.
