DSS members stage protest

July 19, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - Bidar:

Dalit Sangharsh Samiti members protested against the city municipal council for failing to take up development works in Chidri area in Bidar city

“The council is sitting on funds. Officials are responsible for the delay in road, drain and other work,” they said. They added that works under Nagarothana scheme had also been neglected.

Effigy burnt

The agitators alleged that MLA Rahim Khan stopped the road widening under the influence of persons who had encroached on parts of the road. They burnt an effigy of the MLA and shouted slogans against him. “Mr. Khan had promised that he would turn Bidar into Singapore. Nowadays, he is no where to be seen,” Rajkumar Moolbharati, DSS State coordinator, said. The protesters submitted a memorandum to deputy commissioner Anurag Tewari.
