Drug racket busted in Belagavi

Belagavi police busted a drugs racket and arrested eight persons on charge of illegal transport and sale of narcotics on Monday.

Officers of the city crime branch had been keeping an eye on the members of so called ‘Khanjar Galli’ gang, who were allegedly selling drugs to youngsters in the public garden in Khanjar Galli.

Eight of the accused were arrested red-handed selling drugs — Vikki Malagi, Toufiq Ghori Khan, and Mehfooz Khatal Ahmed Syed of Veerabhadra Nagar, Nazim Iqbal Tambakwale of Gandhi Nagar, Gouse Ali of Kakati, Yasin Nadaf of Mahantesh Nagar, Dilawar Sanadi of Kotwal Galli, and Subhani Sheikh of Rukmini Nagar.

Around 4.3 kilograms of Ganja and other drugs were recovered from them. Police Commissioner T.G Krishna Bhat congratulated the team led by circle inspector B.R. Gaddekar.

A case has been registered against the accused at the Market police station.
