The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah drop Minister K.J. George from his Cabinet till the probe into the death of police officer M.K. Ganapathi, who committed suicide at a lodge in Kodagu, gets completed.

The police officer, before his death, had alleged that he had been harassed by the Minister.

Party activists, led by Chandrashekhar Magnur, president of the district unit of the BJP, staged a protest at Shashtri Chowk here on Friday.

Nagartna Kuppi, State vice-president of the BJP, said that the State government had failed to protect efficient officers. She strongly condemned the government failure which, she alleged, was forcing officials to end their lives. She urged Mr. Siddaramaiah to conduct an inquiry against Mr. George after dropping him immediately from the Cabinet. The former MLA Veerabasant Reddy Mudnal demanded justice for another police officer Kallappa Handibhag who committed suicide recently.

The activists formed a human chain at the Shashtri Chowk.

Sharanagowda Badiyal, S.B. Nadekar, Devendranath Nad and Bhimanna Meti were present.
