Draw of lots for selecting Haj pilgrims tomorrow

The online district-wise computerised ‘Qurrah’ (draw of lots) for selecting Haj pilgrims will be held on Sunday at 4.30 p.m. at the Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Soudha, according to the directions of the Haj Committee of India, Mumbai, an official press release said here on Friday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Qurrah programme. Minister for Information, Infrastructure Development and Haj R. Roshan Baig will be among the Ministers who will be present.

Aspirants who wish to witness the draw of lots have been requested to bring the Haj pilgrim acknowledgement letter issued by the Karnataka State Haj Committee along with an identity proof. The State Haj committee has received applications from 17,182 people (including infants) for Haj–2014. The quota allotted for Karnataka is 4,977 pilgrims.

The names of the selected pilgrims will be published on the websites of the Haj Committee of India (www.hajcommittee.com) and the Karnataka State Haj Committee (www.karhaj.in).
