The Hassan district unit of the Vishwa Hindu Parishat has urged the State government not to restrict Praveen Togadia from participating in the Virat Hindu Samajotsav to be held here on March 10.
The parishat has threatened to stage a protest, if the government were to stop Mr. Togadia from participating in the programme.
Oral instruction
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, VHP district secretary Kattaya Shivakumar said Deputy Commissioner Umesh H. Kusugal had orally instructed the organisers not to invite Mr. Togadia.
“It has already been decided that Mr. Togadia will participate in the programme and it cannot be altered now,” he said.
B.K. Manjunath, member of the reception committee of the programme, alleged that the State government was following undemocratic ways to stop Mr. Togadia from participating in the programme. “We will stage a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, if the government stops his participation,” he said.
