Making a political speech at a government programme at Tarikere on Friday evening, Chief Minister Siddarmaiah appealed to the minorities not to vote for the Janata Dal (Secular) party. “If you vote for the JD(S) that will indirectly go to the BJP”, he said addressing the public at a programme organised as part of his tour across the State.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said leaders of the JD(S) claimed themselves as secular, but joined hands with the BJP to share power. “The minorities should understand their strategy. If you vote for them, indirectly you are voting for the BJP. You should keep this in your mind.”
Turning to the BJP, he said the party chief Yeddyurappa’s Mission 150 campaign suffered a major setback when the party suffered defeat in the by-elections. “Now their slogan is Mission 50, only that many seats they can win in the coming elections. The BJP leaders have become frustrated. They lack a culture and do not have a parliamentary language to address the public”, he said.
'PM's promises remain so'
Commenting on the Narendra Modi’s administration, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the Prime Minister had not fulfilled any of the promises he made before the elections. Before his government came to power the price of crude oil was at $110 per barrel, while it had come down to $ 43 per barrel now. But the benefit of the decrease in price had not been transferred to the public. “He had promised to bring back black money and credit the same to accounts of citizens. He had assured ₹ 15 lakh per account. Did you get at least 15 paise”, Mr. Siddaramaiah asked the public. He also alleged that the Modi government did not create 2 crore jobs per year, assured before the elections.
MLA G.H .Srinivas and district officers were present.
