Tension prevailed in Kalaburagi city after a medical representative was attacked by a group of people and murdered in connection with a property dispute in Misbah Nagar on Sunday noon.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Muddasir (35), a resident of Ghalib Colony.

According to sources, Mohammad Muddasir was attacked by the group with sharp weapons, rods and wooden sticks, during his visit to his site.

Protest, with body

The relatives of victims and neighbours shifted him to a private hospital where he died. The kin of the deceased and residents of Ghalib Colony staged an impromptu protest by placing the body in the middle of the road at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Chowk for nearly an hour. The commercial establishments were forced to down their shutters and the protesters also forced public transport off the roads for some time.

Superintendent of Police N. Shashikumar and other senior police officials reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The protesters agreed to lift the road blockade and allowed the body to be taken for post-mortem after the police assured them of investigating the case and arresting the culprits.
