Discharge duties honestly, police personnel told

Prem Shankar Meena, Director General of Police (Training), called upon the police personnel— who finished their training at the Police Training College in Kalaburagi — to discharge their duties honestly.

Speaking after inspecting the passing out parade of the second batch of the Special Reserve Sub-Inspectors, Reserve Sub-Inspectors, Police Sub-Inspectors (Wireless), at Naganahalli here on Thursday,

Isha Pant, Principal of the Police Training College, said that around 115 police personnel, including 51 Special Reserve Sub-Inspectors, 45 Reserve Sub-Inspectors and 19 Police Sub-Inspector (Wireless) selected from across the State have been trained for nine months with indoor and outdoor training sessions to update their skills in fleet management,VVIP security and disaster management.

Mr. Meena released the police training information manual and launched the website on the occasion.

Sahadev Yemoji received the best performance prize in indoor and outdoor training. Three trainees— Shambuling C. Hiremath, Sunil U. Hiremath and Syed Tasneem Fatima bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively for their performance in Iidoor training. While in outdoor training Sahadev Yemoji won the first place, Srikant came second and Arvind R. Chavan came third. K.S.Byrappa secured the top spot in 9 mm rifle shooting and Srikant topped in .303 rifle training. Alok Kumar, Inspector-General of Police (Training) and Superintendent of Police N.Shashikumar were present.

Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Meena and Mr. Kumar said that the training syllabus for the police personnel has been overhauled and revised to suit the present-day requirements.

A proposal has also been sent to the government to cut short the training period by one month. They said that the remaining one month could be used to post the trained police personnel in different places in the State where they would be posted in the future. They said this would help the personnel get accustomed to the area and the problems there.

However, the government is yet to clear the proposal, they added.
