Digvijay Singh to launch Congress campaign

Parameshwara dismisses rumours, says Ramya will fight her political battle

August 07, 2013 02:42 pm | Updated June 02, 2016 01:03 am IST - Bangalore:

All India Congress Committee general secretary and in-charge of party affairs in the State Digvijay Singh will launch the party’s campaign for the by-polls in Bangalore Rural and Mandya Lok Sabha constituencies at Anekal on Wednesday. He will be accompanied by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

On rumours that the party’s candidate for Mandya segment actor Ramya (Divya Spandana) was having second thoughts about continuing in the fray after the sudden death of her guardian R.T. Narayan, Dr. Parameshwara denied any such development. He said that it was natural for her to feel distressed following a personal loss. But she is ready to fight her political battle, he said.

Criticising the Janata Dal (Secular) for its hollow claim that it was the “protector of minorities” in the State, as its leaders were trying to clinch an understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party for the Lok Sabha by-polls, he said that that party had again shown that it did not have any secular credentials.
