A meeting of district-level officers chaired by Minister for Horticulture and district in-charge Shamanur Shivashankarappa has formed committees to make preparations for the three-day Devanagari Kala Utsav from April 8 here.
A procession would be taken out on April 8 at 3 p.m. to mark the inauguration of the utsav.
It would begin from DRR Polytechnic College and will pass through the main streets of the city including Hadadi Road, Vidyarthi Bhavan circle, Ambedkar Circle, Jayadev Circle and culminate at government secondary school ground. The procession would be inaugurated by Davangere University V.B. Kaliwal.
The major attractions of the utsav would be Janapada Nrutya, Sugam Sangeet, youth festival, competitions for women and children, food mela, and sports and drawing camps.
The utsav would be inaugurated by Mr. Shivshankarappa and S.S. Mallikarjun, MLA, would be present. Cultural events would be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises G.M. Siddeshwar.
Minister for Kannada and Culture Umashri would be the chief guest for the concluding ceremony on April 10.
