Deshpande to discuss excess fee, placement fee issue

Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande announced here on Tuesday that the State government will hold talks with college managements over excess fee being allegedly collected by some colleges.

Answering queries at a press conference to announce the results of the Common Entrance Test (CET), the Minister said the matter of ‘placement fee’ being collected by some colleges would be investigated.

B.Ed. colleges

Mr. Deshpande, asked about the ongoing debate over teacher education courses with specific reference to B.Ed. colleges affiliated to Bangalore University, said that the government had formed 33 teams that would be visiting all B.Ed. colleges across the State.

“The teams will inspect infrastructure and faculty strength, among other things,” he said.

He announced that all colleges in all universities will have ‘innovation councils’ henceforth.
