Delegates from 21 developing countries visited small scale industries in the city and interacted with representatives of the Mysore Industries Association on Thursday for a first-hand account of the functioning of the industrial sector here.
The delegates comprised government officials representing various Ministries in Mauritius, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sudan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Malawi, Botswana, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Niger, Malaysia, Indonesia and Afghanistan.
Their visit to Mysuru was part of the eight-week international programme on empowerment of women through enterprises organised by the Government of India’s National Institute of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME).
The visiting delegates, who were senior officials from Ministry of Social Welfare, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture and local government from their respective countries, are also studying the financing approach and strategies of Small and Medium Enterprises during the their programme, which began on November 10 and concludes on January 2, 2015.
The delegates, led by Rany Kadiyala and T. Venkateshwara Reddy, both Directors of the NI-MSME, visited Ms. Ugama Enterprises, which manufactures and exports potassium nitrate, and K.T. Precast Industries situated in Hebbal Industrial Area, and interacted with the proprietors.
The delegates also had an interaction with office-bearers of Mysore Industries Association on its premises.
During the interaction, association president P. Vishwanath explained the role of the association in the development of the industries and the grievances redressal system it had established.
The delegates were also informed about the role the association played in creating awareness about various government’s policies and schemes for the small-scale industries.
Women entrepreneurs A.P. Lalitha of Essel Mechanical Engineering and Shanti B. Ravi of Ugama Enterprises interacted with the delegates and answered their queries.
