Minister for Revenue V. Srinivas Prasad on Wednesday said that the Congress government will re-examine the decision taken by the previous BJP government on the creation of 43 new taluks in the State.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Prasad said that the financial implications of the announcement have to be taken into consideration before arriving at a decision. “The issue will be discussed in detail with the Chief Minister,” he added.
The Minister said that the government was committed to ensuring the effective implementation of Sakala (Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act, 2011) scheme. “No official will be spared if they found are guilty of not providing the services sought by the citizens under the Act within the time fixed for each service,” he warned.
He added that “Sakala is a good project and will get necessary focus from the new government.”
Revenue land
Mr. Prasad said that steps would be taken to regularise revenue land and sites. “These property mostly belonged to the poor. We do not want the poor to face problems, as they are entitled to get basic facilities. The issue will be discussed with the officials and we will come out with a scheme to regularise revenue property by collecting a nominal fee,” he said.
The Minister said that land for setting up a Railway medical college in Mysore would be identified soon.
