“I will take a decision on leaving the Congress or remaining in the party in a week’s time,” said a disgruntled Humnabad MLA Rajshekar Patil, upset with not being included in the Cabinet.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, the MLA said he plans on meeting Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar, besides Congress workers from his constituency.
“I will apprise them of how I have been betrayed. If my problems are not resolved, I will go my own way. This is a ‘do or die’ situation for me and I will take the right decision soon. I am currently considering all options for my political future,” he said.
Mr. Patil squarely blamed former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh for him missing the opportunity to be included in the Cabinet. He urged Mr. Siddaramaiah to stop interfering in the affairs of the District Congress Committee, besides changing the DCC president.
He alleged that though Mr, Kharge tried his best to support him, his efforts were thwarted by Mr. Singh. “Mr. Kharge continues to be my leader,” he said and rubbished rumours that Mr. Siddharamaiah picked Bhalki MLA Eshwar Khandre over him.
