Death toll in Bargi tanker explosion rises to seven

A 50-year-old woman succumbed to injuries on Saturday

One more person receiving treatment for severe burn injuries, due to the explosion of a bullet tanker at Bargi village near Kumta in Uttara Kannada district on September 1, died at Kasturba Hospital here on Saturday.

With this, the death toll in the Bargi tanker explosion has reached seven. The Manipal police gave the name of the woman, who passed away on Friday as Prema Ganapati (50). She breathed her last at around 4.20 a.m.

With this death, half of the 14 injured in the Bargi tanker explosion, have died.

According to sources in the hospital, of the remaining seven injured at the hospital, two are in a critical condition. The condition of the other five patients, including the tanker driver Amit, is stable.

Fourteen persons, who were injured in the tanker explosion in Bargi village, were admitted to Kasturba Hospital on September 1.
