Death of two in accident leads to boycott of polls

Two people were killed on-the-spot after a KSRTC bus ran over them on National Highway-75 at Shettihally near Channarayapatna in Hassan district on Friday. Condemning the accident, residents of the village staged a protest stopping vehicles on the highway.

Residents of the Shettihalli have also boycotted Gram Panchayat polls.

The police gave names of the deceased as Gopal (30) and Nanje Gowda (24). The KSRTC bus (Rajahamsa) ran over them while they were standing near the Highway around 1.30 a.m.

The residents of the village gathered at the Highway and staged a protest. They are demanding Service Roads for the benefit of villagers.
