DC intervenes

November 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - MYSURU:

Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha had to intervene to end the stalemate over the day-long protest by the Congress councillors accusing Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa of putting off the polls to the Standing Committees in spite of the presence of the requisite number of members.

As the councillors resorted to protest outside the Mayor’s chamber, the Deputy Commissioner reached the MCC office and received a memorandum from the protesting councillors.

She promised to look into their complaint and report the matter to the government. After her assurance, the councillors called off the protest. Speaking to The Hindu , MCC Commissioner C.G. Betsurmath said the protesting councillors wanted the Deputy Commissioner to intervene and she was requested to meet the protesters to resolve the issue.
