Dates for Navaraspur Utsav announced

After a gap of four years, Vijayapura district getting ready to host the three-day cultural extravaganza, the Navaraspur Utsav from February 27.

The decision to hold the event was taken during the preparatory meeting held on Tuesday which was chaired by the District In-charge Minister, M. B. Patil.

Speaking to The Hindu , D. Randeep, the Deputy Commissioner,

said that preparations would be done on a war-footing owing to paucity of time. “I have called for the first preparatory meeting of all the district-level officials on January 23”, he said.

Stating that State level artistes apart from local artistes would be participating and given equal importance in the event. The events would be held in new places such as Summer Palace at Kumatagi in the taluk which was built by Adil Shahis for spending their time during summers.

The Utsav would not only focus on cultural event, but also use this opportunity to improve tourism of the district, Mr. Randeep said.
