The Dalai Lama will tour the Tibetan settlements in Bylakuppe from December 18 to 23. The Tibetan spiritual leader will arrive by a special flight from Hubballi and land at the Mysuru airport in the morning and proceed to Bylakuppe – which is about 87 km from the city – in a motorcade.

He will reach Sera Lachi Monastery at Bylakuppe around noon where he will be accorded a traditional welcome by the Tibetan community. He is slated to participate in a function to mark the ordination of 60 monks on Tuesday. The leader will depart for Sera Je Monastery on Wednesday and participate in special prayers.

On Thursday, the Dalai Lama will inaugurate the Sera Mey courtyard and present a discourse. On Friday, about 200 Tibetan teachers – who are attending a two-day workshop on secular ethics that is being planned to be introduced in Tibetan schools – will interact with the Dalai Lama.

After the interaction, the leader will proceed to Tashi Lhunpo monastery and also visit Namdroling Monastery. The Dalai Lama is slated to leave Bylakuppe for Bengaluru on Saturday.
