C.V. Gopalakrishnan passes away

C.V. Gopalakrishnan, former Deputy Editor of The Hindu, passed away in Bangalore on Thursday at the age of 85.

He worked with the daily for 39 years and retired from its Thiruvananthapuram office.

During his career, he worked in Delhi and Chennai for 16 and 17 years respectively, before taking up a posting in Thiruvananthapuram.

He is survived by two daughters and a son. His youngest child, Hamsa Balakrishnan, said: “He used to read The Hindu every day till the very end. Even just 10 days ago he was praising the newspaper and said that it was the best employer he could have asked for.” She added that he fondly remembered his association with G. Kasturi, the former editor of The Hindu .
