Deputy Commissioner K.P. Mohan Raj has said that the district administration had taken steps to trace the culprits involved in drawing funds meant for drought-hit farmers by tampering with cheques and forging signatures in Arkalgud.

Mr. Mohan Raj told The Hindu that he had sent senior officials to Arkalgud to secure all records pertaining to the drought-relief funds.

“I have got the records secured. We will not let the culprits escape,” he said. The official said that the amount drawn by the culprits who tampered with the cheques could be more than Rs. 10 lakh.
